Bohemian Vibes & Summertime

My creativity must be super-charged by the sunshine because I cannot make my pencil move fast enough lately. Days of sketching by the pool, evenings walking by the river, just being outside as much as possible... I love summer. I love how everything seems to move more slowly, more peacefully. And that it's still light outside at 10pm, making staying up until the wee hours of the morning way too easy. Summer makes me want to put flowers in my hair and play in the woods. Like every single day. It really brings out the bohemian in all of us, doesn't it?

I've been on a particularly powerful creative tear since the 4th of July. Columbus does their big fireworks display on the 3rd, and of course I went out with friends afterwards, so the 4th was a good day to recover and lose myself in creation. That's how these new prints were born:

"The Incredible Journey"

"Voyager II"

"Voyager I"

A few weeks ago, I started to form a crazy idea. An idea that has been floating around in my head for a while now, but has never really been more than an idea. Driving the Pacific Coast Highway is on my bucket list. I've never seen the Pacific Ocean. The only part of California I have been to is the part that hits Nevada at Heavenly ski resort in South Lake Tahoe. I've never been to Oregon, never been to Washington. I have wanted to see the Oregon coast ever since I was little, inspired by the greatest movie of all time: The Goonies (it's my favorite, don't judge!). The one year anniversary of quitting my job is fast-approaching, and you only live once right? After researching costs and realizing it would be much cheaper to do it with someone else, I mentioned it to my friend Amber one day on a whim. And she said she was interested!!

I couldn't believe it. Now, we still have a ton to figure out, but I want to make this happen. We are talking about flying into LAX, renting a car, then just making our way up to Seattle. Has anyone done this before? Any recommendations on what to see and where to stop? Where to eat? Once we figure out the travel arrangements, picking out all of the fun stuff will be the best part. Just thinking about it is making me want to jump out of my chair.

Oh summer, how you inspire me. And to think this is just the beginning :)
